Becoming an Online EntrepreneurYou may be familiar with the story of how Cortez ordered his men to burn the ships when they landed in Mexico. The purpose of this was to make his men see that they had to win this battle, because returning to Spain would not be an option. It is also the phrase we use when we talk about starting an online business and not giving ourselves an option of returning to our former job. Be extremely careful with this, and give it the careful thought you would give any other life changing decision.

I regularly share the story of how I burned my ships, or my bridges, if you are more used to hearing that term. I had been a classroom teacher for twenty years, and decided to resign my position. I was 51 at the time I signed these papers, so I knew that no other school district in the country would hire me in the future. Also, I was not old enough to retire, so I would not receive a pension or medical benefits. I was able to cash out my retirement payments, giving me enough money to live for about a year to eighteen months.

At the same time I was working as a real estate broker and residential appraiser. I began giving my clients away to people who were working full time in that business, knowing that it would be unlikely that I would ever get them back. I was truly giving up my former life with the dream of creating an online business.

I do not recommend that you do this. It worked for me because I made the commitment to myself to spend seven days a week in front of my computer, learning as much as possible and taking action on what I was learning. My money only lasted a year, and there were times when I wondered if I had made a bad choice with all of this. I did not have a family to support, so these choices were only going to affect me, but it was difficult many times to not be sure if I was going to have enough money to pay my expenses.

Make a plan before leaving your job to come online. Be realistic with what you are doing. Be willing to work harder than you ever have before to get your business going. Connect with a mentor and people who can guide you through the process of going from being an employee or self-employed to being an online entrepreneur. It can be done, but you must be prepared for what you are getting yourself into with building an online business.

Facing The Challenges Of EntrepreneurialismEntrepreneurialism is just as popular as different types of business opportunities out there and this often involves a person who has the ability to run and organize a particular business which is commonly known as an entrepreneur. This type of people can be found in almost all of the places that you can imagine and are usually involved in different business industries. They can be in the clothing industry, heating or cooling industry and even in the internet industry. More and more entrepreneurs are using the internet to gain profit from their respective businesses. Anyone can easily become an entrepreneur but not all becomes a good one.

Almost all people who are in the business world want to make their businesses into a successful one. But before that happens, there are several challenges that every person must face. These challenges can come from different sources that serve as boundaries of entrepreneurialism like the environment, the financial aspect and yourself.

The business environment is known to change every once in a while and these changes are often caused by other people involved in the same environment like the consumers, suppliers and your competitors. Considering that you are not the only entrepreneur that is offering a certain product line in the market, your product must be something that makes it different from the rest. Make sure that your products are exactly the type of products that fits to your target consumers. If it is, then you also have to check on your suppliers regarding your raw materials because there is a need for your ensure that you will be able to meet the market’s demand. But if you are to launch a new product, then you have to assess if the product will be accepted or not.

Another challenge that you have to face is the financing. Good business ideas, plans, strategies and other things will all be useless if you do not have funds to bring all these things to reality. You should calculate the funds needed in order to sustain all the expenses before you can actually make profit from your business. But in case of emergencies, you can look for several funding options like loans and other alternatives.

And the greatest challenge that you have to face in entrepreneurialism is yourself. There are some things, characteristics, qualities, features or whatever they call it that you have to possess in order to become a good entrepreneur. You may naturally have these things but you may also not. As long as you are determined, focused, eager, disciplined and patient, then you’ll be all set. Remember that being impatient and lazy can really make a business fail. Having the appropriate attitude will not make you successful immediately but it will somehow give you a bigger chance to become successful in your chosen field.

These are just some of the challenges that you must face and overcome to achieve your desired goal. Although these challenges are not that easy to handle, you will surely manage to go about overcoming them if you have the guts and spirit to do so.

It does not only mean extra manpower to the employer, it gives the retiree an opportunity to earn some money and spend their time with something to do, instead of jumping straight into an empty schedule. Plus, instead of cutting off work completely, the retiree can use this as a transition period to move on to complete retirement.

On the other hand, you can take on a consultation role with the company instead. While you may no longer be part of the decision and execution part of the company, your experience and the expertise can come in handy when it comes to making decisions. Or if you have always dreamt of setting up your own company, you can open a consultation firm instead in your field of expertise. Otherwise, you could join a consultation firm instead that would appreciate your experiences.

Apart from that, you can do volunteer work for some community organization instead. There are many causes held by community organizations that need people to help support them, so this is a place where a retiree’s presence can be inviting. Furthermore, it gives the retiree an opportunity to interact with others and gives them something to focus on instead of staying home idling.

There is another thing that one can do, which is called on-the-job retirement. This is suitable for a person has accumulated enough savings for retirement but would like to work some time more to better secure their future. The only difference between working and this is that you do not let your work get ahead of you, and you prioritize your life more. The Makings of a Successful EntrepreneurDo you know that Thomas Alva Edison was not only an inventor but a successful entrepreneur as well? Even the man peddling his magic craft on the street is also an entrepreneur. In fact, everyone can be an entrepreneur as long as he is one person who is engaged in an enterprise or working on an idea and has considerable part in the realization of the abstract concept despite the risks and any impending results.

The real deal of the game is not whether he will be called as such or not but rather if he will demonstrate that his character and skills are cut out for that role or not. There are people who are better off by just becoming part of the organization as their attitude and commitment fit perfectly into the goals and directions of the company that keeps them. There are also those who can never be contented on following the blue prints laid out by other people and become corporate slaves all their lives. These latter group would rather work for themselves and venture into transforming their concepts into brilliant money-generating brainchild.

Before plunging into the abyss world of entrepreneurship, it is important to assess one’s self if this world is for him. As with any other things that will leave a permanent mark on one’s bank account, planning is the first crucial step.

Thinking of a concept and writing down the mechanics are two different animals. Everything is possible in the realm of the imagination but once all these possibilities are measured against the yardstick of reality, things can get a little difficult. Having a business plan is an indispensable first step into transforming abstract products and services into marketable commodities and ultimately into becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Next, ask around and pick up helpful tips from those who have been there and learn from their experiences. Humility can be a handy tool for one that is preparing a road map of a place where he has never been before. There are also countless magazines, journals and online blogs that have delved into the matter and featured successful businessmen from different industries. He must research on the topics that most likely resemble or better yet match his line of business.

Afterwards, he must bring himself to action. It is now time to attend to both the interior and exterior requirements of putting up the business. Fifty percent of the business inventory comes from within one’s self. He must check his personal conviction and get a clearer picture on why he wants to become engaged in that trade. Then later on, he must check his passion vis-à-vis his skills. Are his skills set the one that will most likely push the idea into reality and see it through the tough times or just a temporary inclination that will wear out as soon as tides hover?

If he can positively assure himself that his core expertise can withstand the test of times, he can also win over possible partners who can help finance the start-up endeavor. Other than substantial financial backing, it will be helpful to have someone that can be a source of moral and business guidance. These people can help take care of the exterior aspect of the business start-up. They will more often than not know the ins and outs of the business particularly on the documentary requirements for a newbie in the field such as registering the business name, setting-up the corporate board of directors and having the corporation get registered in the proper government agency handling the matter, preparing the tax papers and receipts, hiring the pilot team and rolling the wheels of the marketing events in motion.

Lastly, the budding entrepreneur must always have a pocketful of persistence. Failures happen for a reason and they should always be known to those who want to avoid them. As Thomas A. Edison put it, he has not failed but only found 10,000 ways that will not work.

Some of these are things like managing the books, dealing with potential clients as well as customers, dealing with marketing and advertising, and of course maintaining and keeping up the buildings that are involved in your business. It is extremely vital in good business that you look professional in every way. And having a professional commercial pressure washing service is one way to keep you on top of keeping up with the look of your company.

There are all sorts of reasons that having a commercial pressure washing service is beneficial to your business. One of the most important reasons of all these is that it lets you take care of the most important thing for any business, being able to run the business without having to worry about keeping the building clean. Pressure washing a commercial building is an extremely big task no matter how big or small and can take a great deal of time if you don’t have all the proper tools to do so. Having a professional crew at your disposal to take this burden off you is a great way to take complication out of your business, leaving you with one less thing to worry about and also more time to actually get work done.

Another good reason that hiring a professional pressure washing company is important is because they are able to keep you on a schedule that will never let your building get too dirty. Instead of just cleaning the building when you absolutely have to, after weeks of putting it off the pressure washing company can keep you clean at all time by doing it on a regular schedule. Right when things start getting dirty again they can be there without even having to be called to do so. Your Own Catering BusinessIt can be a great thing to be your own boss, even with the challenge that goes along with it. In fact, that challenge can be exhilarating. And maybe with this exhilaration you have also thought about starting your own catering business?

If you’re a good cook and you love people, you might want to consider this exciting enterprise. When you enter the world of catering, you’ll be able to combine your favorite hobby with earning a living. Each time you create a new dish or get a new client you’ll experience a thrill like no other. It will give you a huge sense of accomplishment to know that your food is appreciated by so many people.

It is important to remember though that catering is not all fun and games. You’re likely to encounter people who may be easily upset or anxious about an event, or just downright hard to please.

As a professional caterer, it is important to stay calm and relaxed. If you project these positive feelings, you will help to keep everyone happy and focused on the event being planned.

A Business Needs People!

Remember that no business can thrive without clients. So, you really need to know how to sell your skills. Not only that, but you will be dealing with everyone from wedding party planners to business executives. That means that you’ll need to be able to adapt to any situation that may arise.

The truth is that selling yourself is very important in any business, especially catering. One easy way to sell yourself is by handing out your business cards and brochures everywhere you go. Make sure that people will have a way to remember and contact you.

You may also want to send out business letters and postcards to any potential clients that you are trying to attract.

Additionally, try to create social networks with like-minded business people. These can be people that compliment your business, rather than compete with it. Florists and party supply stores are two good examples. A small business related group might be able to help each other get work, since you will all be needed for similar events, such as weddings.

Finally, you need to remember that having your own catering business isn’t just about making food.

You really need to understand what it is that your clients want. You may be required to juggle deadlines, personnel, delivery times and more. It’s absolutely vital that you keep a clear head, even when it gets busy. So, be sure to plan ahead and set up ways to keep things organized.

Organization is really one of the biggest keys to running your own catering business successfully.

Successful EntrepreneurshipThere are 5 key secrets that have served as a guide for me in many entrepreneurial endeavors over the years. They are particularly important if you have decided to transition from a regular job and a paycheck to a business of your own. This requires a particular mindset and practice very different from going from job to job. Your clear intention, consistent attention, and integrity of actions will determine your outcome. If you have arrived at the conclusion that the freedom and responsibility of owning your own business is path you wish to take, then these keys may offer helpful guidance.

  1. Mindset. This alone will determine your success or failure. It is said that your mindset is 95% of the game; more important than your marketing budget, business plan, or any other resource. It is your responsibility to manage it. Immerse yourself in an environment that empowers you, surround yourself with people who inspire you, and always seek to expand your horizons. This will keep your mindset at a level to succeed. Do this and your very energy will attract and draw to you the expertise, the clients, the relationships and the resources necessary to build your dream.
  2. Intention. A clear vision of your intention is critical. What is the purpose behind your vision? And it’s not the money; it’s the choices and options it affords you. What are those for you? Be specific, and infuse your vision with the feelings of excitement. Make it tangible. It will manifest. This is also where your code of ethics comes into play. Your intention must be in harmony with your personal and professional standards, beliefs and integrity.
  3. Consistency. I used to joke that I was consistently inconsistent until I realized that was the downfall of my unsuccessful entrepreneurial endeavors. Consistence, persistence, and regularity of your daily habits of success, is vital in realizing your goals. Whether they are exercise, meditation or prayer, eating well, task lists, marketing, client contact or study, do them without fail. “A schedule defends against chaos and whim,” Annie Dillard, Pulitzer Prize winner in non-fiction, 1975.
  4. Focus. It is a universal law that what you focus on will grow. Keep your attention on your vision. Do NOT focus on what you lack, your struggles and what you fear. That is not to suggest you stuff your feelings. Fears and anxieties will come up and they are there to protect you from harm, or the other caveman who is about to steal the antelope you just speared. Acknowledge them for what they are and move on; dwelling on your fears will create harm. Continually return your attention to your endeavor and the joy and excitement it brings you.
  5. Action. It is not enough to visualize, to meditate upon, or to ask for the realization of your dream. I don’t care what anyone says. Without action, nothing happens. It doesn’t have to be aggressive, hard-driving relentless action, but it does have to be clear, consistent, and in line with your code of ethics. Listen to your gut, your intuition, and don’t ignore synchronicities.

As Goethe said,”Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” This has always been an inspiration to me. He goes on to say that when you take bold action, help will appear from unexpected places. Look for it.
